2. The signal app came into the limelight after the change in WhatsApp’s privacy policy in January 2021
3. But you will be surprised to know that it does not have any revenue model. As of now, Signal App runs entirely on donations.
4. Everyone can donate through its website. It accepts all currencies and even cryptocurrencies as donations.
5. It is managed by the Signal Technology foundation. It is a non-profit organization founded by none other than WhatsApp Co-Founder Brian Acton and Moxie Marlinspike.
6. Acton left WhatsApp in September 2017 to start this Signal Technology Foundation after a dispute with Facebook regarding the monetization of WhatsApp.
7. Acton invested $50 million in this foundation and he is currently a board member of the Signal Technology Foundation.
8. Signal has promised to not be yet another sellout. Signal has been structured as a non-profit, which means it can never be owned or bought by anyone.
